MoMo #13: Mobile Pocket won App Circus

It was Monday, it was MobileMonday and it was time for an app challenge. In course of the international App Circus ten developers pitched each other to win a participation for the Mobile Premier Awards at the Mobile World congress 2012 in Barcelona. The jury and the audience were in agreement on their favorites.

Top 3: MOBILE POCKET, MYTAXI AND POWER HOUR

This year it was not easy for the audience to vote their favorites via SMS:
Finally the third place goes to Power Hour, a web-app, developed from students of the Technikums Wien, helping to find nearby bars with Happy Hours, cash machines and currently also also Christmas Markets. A perfect combination with Happy Hour is MyTaxi, the app which hit the second place. MyTaxi will bring you safely back home after you extensively used Happy Hour. Winner with most votes from the audience was Mobile Pocket, which combines all your loyalty cards in one app on your mobile.

This year it was not the audience that elected the final winner of the evening but a jury of experts including Georg Koch (Herold), Verena Krawarik (APA) and Alexander Lamatsch (Nokia).

#1 MOBILE POCKET WILL GO TO BARCELONA

"At the Song Contest it almost never occurs that the candidate with number one wins the competition", jokes moderator Marcus Hebein at the beginning of the event.
But at the end Mobile Pocket, the loyalty card app of bluesource mobile solutions that pitched first, made the game. MobileMonday Austria will send Mobile Pocket to Mobile Premier Awards at the Mobile World congress 2012 in Barcelona.

Further finalists of this evening were a Grazer tourist guide called "Graz Secrets" (Les Avignons), an augmented reality glasses app iMirror (Netural), mjam a foodordering-app (Lucy Marx), the augmented reality app SOLight (anvartec), a ski-app called deep.snow (deep.search), a health couch app iJoule (iJoule) as well as the tablet publication machine MagEngine (blockhaus media).

MoMo #13: App Circus Vienna (formerly known as Demo Night) is coming up pretty fast! On Nov. 21st we will prepare the stage for 10 participants to demo their app or mobile service. Same rules as you know it from last year´s Demo Night: Maximum 3 slides in maximum 4 minutes - there will be a jury commenting each live demo.

After some sleepless nights we finally picked 10 candidates among 36 great submissions!!! A big "Thank you!" goes to our great developer community for their neverending mobile creativity here in Austria! When choosing our finalists, we were looking specifically at the level of innovation of their mobile services, we checked usability and user experience as well as their relation to Austria.

And here they are, we proudly present our ten finalists with their mobile services (listing is in no specific order!):

myTaxi: revolutionary application – through which you can order a taxi at a touch of a button without calling a switchboard.

Graz Secrets: is in no way a run-of-the-mill travel guide, as it almost exclusively presents "Things you’ve never done before."

DEEP.snow: offers recommendations and navigation systems for ski resorts.

iJoule: you will be guided to change your health habits by following simple to implement daily rules.

mjam: enter a postal code, select a restaurant-supply (to be displayed based on user feedback) andreceive practical and easily directly from within App of the beverage and food menu..

Power Hour: offers the functionalities to find near happy hours, cash machines and bars and connect them together to plan a route for a party evening.

SOLight: With this app it has never been so easy to identify the length of direct sunlight at your current position

mobile-pocket: This app disrupts the loyalty rewards world by moving existing infrastructure like loyalty and club cards to Smart Phones.

iMirror: with this app you can experience how Silhouette rimless eyewear suits you – any time and anywhere you like thanks to advanced Augmented Reality video technology.

MagEngine: MagEngine is a library that will help you get your next publication on iPad and Android tablets in a stylish new way.
